The Complete Studio Recordings

The lavish box set ABBA – The Complete Studio Recordings comprised 9 CDs & 2 DVDs, plus a full colour booklet with timeline and photos. A separate booklet contained lyrics to all the songs contained in the box set. The Complete Studio Recordings marked the first ever release of a complete ABBA studio recordings set, and the first set to tell the ABBA story both through audio and video content.

CDs 1 to 8 featured each of the band’s studio albums, plus all non-album singles and B-sides, and versions in Spanish, German, French and Swedish. CD 9 contained a selection of rarities, most of which were originally released after the band’s heyday.

The nine CDs comprised every single studio-recorded piece of music commercially released by the Swedish group (under the name ABBA and/or Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid/Frida) on single, LP or CD. This included alternate mixes, but not edited versions nor extended versions (that did not feature alternate mixes). Some of the tracks had never been released on CD before.

The Complete Studio Recordings also included two DVDs, featuring all the promo videos ever released by the band, a documentary entitled The History, and a five selections from a previously unreleased concert, which was originally a part of the television special Dick Cavett Meets ABBA.

ABBA – The Complete Studio Recordings was a strictly limited edition release, only available for a limited period of time and in limited numbers. However, a simpler version of the box set – featuring only the 9 CDs and the timeline booklet – was released in Denmark in 2006.
